I realize that Google Chrome is NOT a new tool. Everyone might not be using it but it is definitely not new per se. For me, as someone who manages many social media pages for several organizations, Chrome is a time saver which I am totally in love with as a tool. Google Chrome is not just a browser. It is a tool that allows you to create several identities. Like Internet Explorer, you can open up your regularly used pages and save them to all launch at the same time when you open your IE browser. With IE however, I used to have to open up about 25 tabs for all the pages I needed to use. Now this was problematic because using the same identity prevents you from opening up two different Facebook pages for different companies or two different Twitter accounts etc.
I would have to switch back and forth logging in and out numerous times to get my daily tasks completed which needless to say was a bit of a pain in the butt. My answer was finding that Google Chrome. Chrome allows you to create several identities that can be open at the same time. For example, I have one identity for my company which opens up all their social pages and the tools that I use daily. I have another identity for each of the other companies that I help to manage social media for. When I launch any or all of those identities each of their social media pages that I have set up also open. I can add or remove pages from any identity at any time and I can run all of them at the same time and work between them with two clicks! This allows me to be much more efficient and have all of the social pages I need to work on open and ready to go without being logged off because I’m logged into someone else’s Facebook page at the same computer on another tab.
Now, there are other neat things about Chrome like themes and the store but I find little use for them in what I do for a living and I try not to spend my off hours on the internet unless I have to so I won’t spend any time on them here. You can check them out for yourself here.
So, give it a try and let me know by leaving a comment what you think of Chrome. Fan, not a fan or just don’t care too much. 😉
